Documents and Visas:
Passport: All foreign travelers to India must have valid passport with
you all the times .
Visas: all foreign tourists for India must obtained in your own country.
International Airport: You can enter India through its four major
cities.
Delhi- North-Capital City
Mumbai (Earlier Bombay)- West
Chennai ( Earlier –Madras) – South
Kolkota (Earlier Calcutta)- east
Domestic flights: Some security checks at airport not allow to carry
knives, scissors, lighters, batteries, best to put them in your checked
baggage.
Money: The Indian currency is the Rupee. The rupee notes are in
denominations of Rs 1000, Rs 500, Rs. 100, Rs 50, Rs 20, Rs 10 Rs 5 and Rs 2
There are coins of Rs 5, 2 and 1.
Traveler Cheques and credit cards are widely accepted in India. There are bank
counters inside the terminals and money can be changed easily at the
prevailing rates and get encashment certificates.
Left over rupees: you can change in to foreign currency at
International Airport departure lounge and must produce encashment
certificate.
Cameras & Electrical Equipment: India has 220volts and round pin plugs.
Adaptors for square pin should be brought with you. Check if your mobile phone
will work – needs Dual band inside.
Health Insurance: It is essential to take out appropriate, adequate
travel insurance before traveling to India and joining us on one of our trips.
Your insurance policy should cover you for personal accident, medical
expenses, cancellation, curtailment, loss of luggage or personal effects, and
repatriation in order to give you peace of mind and to comply with modern
travel requirements. We request that you make photocopies of the relevant
pages of your passport and visa and essential insurance policy information,
plus the phone number to contact the insurance company, keeping one spare set
with yourself, and giving one set to your tour leaders if you are
participating in an escorted holiday.
Travel Tickets
You are responsible for the booking and payment of your International flight
to India from your country of departure whilst we take care of all your travel
arrangements in and around India. Check the availability of your trip first
with us before booking your International flight. Make sure you have the
exact, correct spelling on your ticket as discrepancies between what is
printed on your ticket and what appears on your passport will not be taken
lightly with airlines and immigration officials, who can be strict.
First Aid Items
We have a stock of first aid items but it is preferable if everyone brings
some basic items with them for their own personal use. This should include
things like: plasters, antiseptic wipes and creams, ibruprofen, antihistamine
pills or cream, eye drops, Immodium and rehydration salts. Ask your chemist
for any further suggestions.
